Uploading Games

How to upload

Games are posted on pjio by clicking the UPLOAD button. Only games that are to be delivered as web-games should be uploaded, if you wish to link to a download URL you must host those files. You may post a game as 'Download Only', 'Web-game Only' or both.

Packaging guidelines

These instructions apply only to games that are to be uploaded and delivered as web-games.

If you compile your game to run in windowed mode only, remove any options to switch the game to fullscreen and vica versa. We recommend window sizes of 480x360, 512x384,640x480 or 800x60. If you are running in fullscreen then please select a resolution that is widely supported.

Compress visual and audio assets to minimize the download size. The maximum filesize we allow is 20MB, this is split across four .igl archive files. The 20MB limit has been set to maintain a reasonably small download to launch time - these are webgames after all. You can use tools such as Molebox, UPX, asProtect and DRM wrappers. If your game has a DRM wrapper that shows a launch window then please ensure that when you upload the game you "uncheck" the Embed option.

Game Embedding

Where applicable Games on pjio have an 'Embeddable Player', allowing you to embed and play the game directly from your blog/website. This feature works with various forums (MySpace, Blogger, Xanga, Friendster) and any other site which allows posting embedded tags (HTML code). As an alternative to embedding the 'Player' you can embed the Game Badge, the badge displays details about the game and links back to this site when the user clicks to play.

Making Updates

When a game has been uploaded and published it is possible to update/edit the text, urls, images and upgrade game files. To update a game click on the Account Tab and select the Edit button which will be placed next to the game in question. You will not be able to change the game name.

Buddies

Grow your network of buddies as you get to know people on the site. Simply visit a profile, send a Buddy Request and wait to be accepted. When you visit the site you can automatically see which buddies are on-line, what they are doing and make contact with them if you wish.

Groups

Groups consist of one or more gamers who share common interests, gamers may create groups, join existing groups, add games to groups and discuss everything gaming with other members of that group. A group is a great way to meet and socialise with like minded individuals.

Commenting

Don't be afraid to leave comments - constructive comments help developers make better games, encourage gamers to improve profiles and groups. Be sure not to start spamming the site and making inappropriate remarks as other users will flag your behaviour and you WILL lose significant karma points.

Reviewing

Posting a game review is helpful for both the developer and potential players, when writing a review please try to keep it concise and to the point - really let the reader know what you thought and if you purchased the game make sure you tell everyone.

Karma

Here at pjio we reward you for your community activities, every time you play a game, make a comment, rate a game or take part in group discussions you earn Credits and increase your Karma. You will be able to redeem your credits in a number of ways. Initially credits will be redeemable against community prizes, eventually you will be able to use the credits to purchase games from our developers and publishing partners - the details are being finalised on this. Clicks and impressions are tracked by our server and though our advertising network partner. Click Fraud is taken very seriously and accounts will be terminated if individuals or groups of individuals are deemed to be participating in these activites.

In-game advertisements generate significantly more revenue than traditional banner advertisements. By 2010, the in-game advertising market is expected to reach more than $700 million, grab yourself a slice of that pie.

Ad revenue is paid at the end of each month provided your earnings exceed the threshold of $50.00USD, if your earnings fall short of the threshold they will be carried over to the next month until they reach the payment threshold. Adverts are served from a number of third-party ad-networks, your payments are calculated when we receive audited earnings from these suppliers. Every advert impression and click is tracked with an identifier unique to each game title, thus enabling us to calculate your revenue share quickly and accurately.
